Users will be able to subscribe to a special contact on their MXit application, allowing for Idols voting, Idols chatting and background information on their favourite Idols contestants. And we’re really trying to make voting interaction as simple as possible. MXit users will not be charged to cast votes – it’s absolutely free! This is in sharp contrast to the standard SMS charges that non-MXit voters will be paying to vote. MXit users will be limited to the amount of votes that they can cast per voting session. Apart from voting, MXit users will be able to chat in a special Idols Chat Zone, accessible from the Idols Voting Service. While voting will only be open every Sunday, when the Idols show is live on TV (17:30 to 19:00) until the next Monday’s result show(19:00), chatting will be available 24/7. MXit users can expect to chat in various rooms ranging from contestants to judges chat rooms. Users can even create their own chat rooms and invite their friends to join the conversation. These rooms will be moderated by MXit, ensuring a pleasant chatting experience for all. MXit is planning to host special celebrity-chat sessions with the unlucky Idols contestants who didn’t make it, as well as the judges, finalists and the winners. These chat sessions involve chat participation with the Idols celebrity as well as chat-viewing rooms, where the conversation can be watched without actually chatting. MXit users will also be able to obtain background information / gossip on the judges and Idols contestants from the comfort of their hand sets prior to casting their votes.
